Root and Bloom: The story behind Willow & Wildflower

Willow & Wildflower is a place for gentle, grounded healing – inspired by the willow’s ability to bend without breaking and the wildflower’s quiet strength to grow in unexpected places. It’s a space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin to feel steadier and more supported in your own body and life.

Born from Lived Experience & Healing

Willow & Wildflower Counseling & Wellness grew out of my years of sitting in therapy as a client and with people. I have been allowed the opportunity to be part of individuals’ most tender, complicated moments and witness how profoundly healing it is to finally feel safe, believed, and supported in trauma‑informed therapy. I chose the name Willow & Wildflower because it reflects the kind of healing work I did throughout my life, and the work we do together.

The willow tree symbolizes resilience, flexibility, and the ability to survive storms. Willows can bend without breaking, hold heavy branches, and root deeply near water. To me, this mirrors trauma therapy: together we make room for the heavy things you carry, help your nervous system become more flexible and regulated, and support you in bending with life’s challenges instead of feeling like you have to snap, shut down, or stay in survival mode.

The wildflower represents growing in hard places and finding beauty in unexpected and harsh environments. Wildflowers take root in cracks in the sidewalk, along rocky paths, and in places that were never tended—and still they bloom. This reflects how trauma‑informed counseling honors the ways you’ve adapted to survive, while also helping you gently reclaim your sense of self, rediscover your voice, and grow in directions that feel more authentic and free.

Together, Willow & Wildflower capture the heart of my approach: a grounded, nurturing space where your pain is held with care, your body and story are respected, and your innate capacity to heal is supported. Through EMDR, somatic work, and nervous system–focused therapy, we honor both your resilience and your right to soften, breathe, and grow—no matter what you’ve lived through.

The name reflects the kind of healing I’m committed to offering: the willow, steady and flexible, able to bend without breaking — and the wildflower, resilient enough to grow in places it was never expected to. Together, they represent the balance of strength and softness I bring to therapy, and the way I walk alongside you as you reclaim the parts of yourself that deserve safety, compassion, and room to grow.

What to Expect

Sessions blend EMDR, somatic techniques, and nervous system regulation to create safety and resilience over time.

My own trauma and healing shape everything about how I show up as a therapist. At Willow & Wildflower Counseling & Wellness, I work with adults who have survived trauma, carry complex or childhood wounds, or live with high-functioning anxiety and self-blame. Because I know what it’s like to feel “too much” and still hold it all together, I prioritize safety, consent, and going at your nervous system’s pace. Together, we use trauma-informed, EMDR, and somatic therapy to help you feel more grounded, connected, and able to bend without breaking—like the willow—and slowly grow into the wildflower version of yourself that’s always been there.

This practice is rooted in values of safety, collaboration, and deep respect for your lived experience. I will never ask you to share more than you’re ready for, and I work intentionally to avoid recreating the dynamics of harm or pressure you may have known before. If the story behind Willow & Wildflower resonates with you, you’re welcome to reach out for a consultation or send a message through my contact page. How Therapy at Willow & Wildflower Helps Clients Heal and Grow

“You’re somebody I didn’t know I needed until you came into my life. I’d
been through my share of therapists, but nobody has helped me thrive in
the way you have. For the first time, I feel like I have space to be fully myself and not just survive the day.”

“I used to think healing meant pretending I was fine. Working with Caroline taught me that healing is actually about honesty, compassion, and learning to feel safe in my own skin. I’m not just functioning anymore—I’m living, connecting, and making choices that feel right for me.”

“I came in exhausted from holding everything together. Caroline helped me untangle the chaos inside me and understand why I felt the way I did. Now I notice my body’s signals, I have tools to regulate my nervous system, and I feel more in control, more connected, and more like the person I’ve always wanted to be.”

“Caroline is the first therapist who made me feel truly seen without feeling judged. I never felt pushed to go faster than I was ready for, and I always knew my story—and my identity—were being held with care and respect.”
